Huge ‘Thomas Paine’ Endorsement For Candidate Richard Behney For Senate

February 24, 2010 – Indianapolis, IN - “CONGRATULATIONS, Richard and the wise folks of Indiana, for picking a true patriot to run for the U.S. Senate. I'm not in the business of endorsing candidates but I clearly understand Richard represents the will of the vast majority of Americans who are taking back our country and restoring common sense, reason and respect for our constitution.

I know, personally, Richard never intended to put his life on hold and become a part of an arrogant and corrupted political system that has consistently put personal and party agendas ahead of what's right for America. I remember Richard handing me a picture of his young, vibrant family and telling me he couldn’t be the father he wants to be until he somehow found a way to fight for a better American future for them.

I have traveled all over this country over 412 times in the last thirteen months speaking to hundreds of thousands of my fellow countrymen, white, black, brown and all the colors between. They were not rallying as right wing, left wing or no wingers. They were all joined at the hip as just plain Americans fed up with their own apathy at having given up their roles as citizens to become consumers.

All that has changed now. The giant has awakened and young dedicated men, like Richard, are risking all they have to fight a big government attempting to lead this nation to a dark place our founding fathers constructed a constitution to prevent us from going.

Richard is one of many all over our nation, who is running for office to rise above politics, rise above policies, rise above the dictates of the party leaders and announce his principles and his resolve to commit to them no matter the consequences.

This is your generation's finest hour to clean out a system that no longer serves the real owners of our republic, WE THE PEOPLE. November 2, 2010 is the best, and perhaps the last opportunity we have to rescue Lady Liberty and return this special nation to the core values that gave the world the greatest burst of freedom ever known.

Listen to Richard, Indiana. Hold him accountable to his principles. Make him commit to every one of them every time he speaks to you.

Look into his soul and if you see what this nation desperately needs at this turning point in our history; a statesmen willing to risk his political capital to do the right thing...and make him your next Senator from a state famous for calling a thing what it is and understanding that character is everything.

It's a great time to be an American."

GUNS IN CITY PARKS

Indianapolis - 2-25-10
A public hearing before the Indianapolis City County Council was called to hear comments pro and con on a proposal to rescind a current gun prohibition city ordinance in Indy’s public parks.  Here is the text of my two minutes:

I’m here to support a proposal to lift the restriction banning guns in parks.  I don’t know who invented the original idea of stripping citizens of their right to protect themselves in parks, but this is a Constitutional issue and a basic self-defense issue.  Why and when did someone conclude that we cannot defend ourselves just because we stepped into a park?  Why should we be defenseless while we’re having a picnic or attending an outdoor concert in a park?  Why would someone strip us of the right to self-defense?

I ask the Parks Dept. and the city council to show just cause by providing ANY studies, ANY statistics that justify a defenseless society while in a park.  Provide ANYTHING, ANYTHING, that justifies your notion that carrying a legal gun in a public park somehow incites violence.  Please produce your evidence.  Convince us that citizens defending themselves is a crime, just because it happens in a park.  Convince us that law abiding citizens carrying their own concealed defense prompts any incident that leads others to violence.
I propose a Pilot Program for 1 year – a suspension, a moratorium of the current ordinance and a final review to prove whether or not the ability for citizens to defend themselves causes a rise in crime, incites violence, or in ANY way threatens the liberty of others.

If you are going to continue to strip citizens of their right to defend themselves in parks, then supply an armed officer in every one of the 200 parks in Indianapolis during open hours to defend us.  Absent that, then leave us alone with our right to defend ourselves, our family and our children.  That is all.

Libertarian Wayne Root Offers Citizenship For Sale?

Libertarian Party VP nominee in 2008 and hopeful LP Presidential candidate for 2012,  Wayne Allyn Root has put forth a way to ‘save Capitalism’ and ‘save America’ with his five point plan, according to his website blog.  It must be said that he publicly speaks well, is personable, and wants America to return to its core Constitutional principles of leaner government. http://www.rootforamerica.com/blog/

Yet, there are elements of his talking points that just don’t ring true
Step 1: Create a one-year national income tax vacation. My plan allows everyone in America who already pays taxes to keep 100 percent of their own income for one year. The cost of this income tax vacation is a measly $1.2 trillion.
Step 2: Eliminate capital gains taxes permanently.
Step 3 Create a small business payroll tax vacation for two years.
Employees and employers each pay half of payroll taxes. Under my plan, we would give the business owner a payroll tax vacation — by suspending the employer’s half of the payroll tax for two years.
Step 4 Turn immigration from a drain on the economy into an economic boom.
let’s offer instant residency and an easy, quick path to citizenship for skilled, educated, and financially secure immigrants, which will help trigger a turnaround to small business and the American economy.

Specifically
any immigrant who invests $250,000 into either a home or a small business should be granted instant residency and a path to citizenship. This plan is simple: bring money, skills, and resources to start businesses and create jobs and you will be instantly welcomed into the land of opportunity. When ambitious, educated, skilled, middle class immigrants move to America they will buy millions of homes, thereby ending the housing and foreclosure crisis. They will buy or start new businesses, thereby creating millions of new jobs. They will pay into the payroll tax system, and they will put their money into U.S. banks, thereby ending the banking crisis.

Now I have to wonder why our present path to citizenship needs amended.  I don’t think so.  Either you are U.S. natural born or foreign born naturalized into the U.S.  In a land where all men are created equal as endowed by the Creator,  why should there be any 3rd  path of citizenship invented for the privileged?  “Instant residency” if you have the money to buy citizenship for $250,000.00.  Step right up; U.S. citizenship for sale to the rich who have the bucks!  If our founders wanted that attitude, they would have included it, and they would have resented any foreign born to reap the benefits of what was so badly fought for with the blood of patriots.  It smacks of elitism, with all the trappings that come with European nobility and entitlements bought and sold and class warfare;  all rejected by the collective 13 colonies that forged this nation.
Secondly,  remember the words written on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty:
"Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me ,I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Should these words be amended to:
“Give me your energetic, your rich, your privileged Crowns of Europe yearning to handsomely buy your citizenship, the new nobility of your teaming shore.  Send these, the aristocrats with castles, on easy street to me, I lift my empty coffers beside the golden doubloon.”

Step 5 Legalize and tax sin to fund healthcare reform. The taxes that gamblers and other “sinners” pay in Nevada allow the rest of us to keep more of our own money and lead a better quality of life. Studies prove that the legalization of marijuana and online gambling would generate almost $300 billion in new tax revenues. Our government wastes billions enforcing ridiculous laws and bans on personal freedom. Taxes on gambling (and even legal prostitution) fund Nevada’s state government,

This simple, common sense 5-step plan could quickly turn around the U.S. economy and save capitalism. It’s time to restore the American Dream. God Bless America.
Hmm,  “‘sinners’ pay in Nevada allow the rest of us to keep more of our own money and lead a better quality of life”.  Note two things:  one group pays for the government to run while the other gets a free ride sounds close to redistribution of benefits at the expense of a targeted segment of society, the gamblers.  Does anyone believe our founders would ever conceive this?
Secondly, note the distinction between ‘sinners’ suffering their monetary losses so ‘the rest of us” can “lead a better quality of life.”  Why should the self-victimization of ‘sinners’ elevate the free ride they provide the rest?  Under other circumstances the rest of us would be called enablers, resting upon the addiction of others.  At the very least, addicts need treatment; not left rotting under our dependency.  This makes both the ‘sinner’ and ‘the rest of us’ equal co-enablers of addiction.  Does anyone think our founders envisioned gambling and prostitution to sustain ourselves, and that this is what is needed to ‘save America’?
I’ve met and like Mr. Root, but his article puts America’s best days behind us by contriving a future dependency upon gambling and prostitutes to ‘save America’ and luring the foreign rich an ‘instant’ slam dunk citizenship for the price is right.    America is not up for sale, and I hope you rethink your positions, Mr. Root.  If you’re entertaining a serious run for President, this is not the avenue.

BUT BARRY, NOTHING CHANGED BETWEEN US.

I SAID I HATED ‘CONGRESS’; NOT YOU.

I-75 Lake  City bill-board

The attached photo is of a billboard recently established on I-75 just south of Lake City.  We gathered there today to celebrate its unveiling.  The cost of 10 months rental of the billboard and  doing the artwork was $6500. We feel that is a reasonable cost to reach out to 1,000,000 vehicles per month and perhaps motivate their participation in the electoral process to get our country on a sound footing.
Due to recent  budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been  turned off.

Tea Party Nation to converge on Vegas

If you missed the Tea Party in Nashville, Tn.,  here’s your chance to attend the summer convention in the west; Las Vegas, NV.

It appears that Obama has two-timed that city by publicly announcing twice not to throw money in Vegas during these sad economic times, upsetting those in Nevada who depend on convention center and visitor attendance as their livelihood.  The following appears on the tea party nation website:

Tea Party Nation is pleased to announce the National Tea Party Unity Convention!
President Obama told Americans not to go to Las Vegas so that is exactly where Tea Party Nation will be holding our next event!

Tea Party Nation is pleased to announce the National Tea Party Unity Convention, July 15 through the 17th, to be held in Las Vegas.

Coming off the success of the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, the National Tea Party Unity Convention is going to bring Tea Party leaders and activists in the movement together to present a unified front as we go into the fall 2010 elections.

In addition to the fabulous speakers and trainers, who will be offering their services at this event, the National Tea Party Unity Convention will also be presenting the first Tea Party Nation Conservative Film Festival.

Tickets for the event will be on sale soon. More information can be found on the Tea Party Nation website www.teapartynation.com

Is There Hope For CNN? Here’s a Shocking Cafferty Comment

STINK BOMBS AWAY!

Former Libertarian presidential candidate, Bob Barr, has startled both his adversaries and adherents by his blog commentary carried in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  I have to wonder if the conservative turned libertarian who carried the Libertarian Party banner in the 2008 election has slumped into a backslidden condition of intolerance.  It will fuel the justification of those who bolted during his election process and should give rise to second thoughts for those who touted his previous conversion.
I am not a libertarian, though I voted for Mr. Barr because despite his impossibility of becoming President, it was principle above party that my conscience said was more aligned with our founding values.  But the thought of not following a qualified battlefield leader who may adhere to nature, false gods, agnostic or atheist ideas,  when his leadership is otherwise not in question,  seems misplaced if not worse.  If your commander leads you into a raid with bombs falling and dodging bullets, you trust in his ability; not his personal religion if any.  Mr. Barr is both personable and articulate, but issuing this stink bomb remark doesn’t sound either libertarian tolerant or practical.  Here is the AJC article

Running Naked for NY Governor's Office

Here's a twist on transparency in government.  Remember former Governor Spitzer of NY who resigned in disgrace, having been outed with revelations of getting it on with a lady of the evening?  Now SHE is running for the Governor's office and hasn't made up her mind whether it will be under the auspices of the Libertarian Party or something else.  Kristin Davis, the Manhattan Madam, has 3 proposals: legalize pot, prostitution and same sex marriage.  Now there's a message with a massage. I can't wait for the campaign ads.  Link

TVs Flying Off Shelves for Superbowl

Foxnews carries an AP report of Christmas II, meaning this year's Superbowl season prompts more TV sales.  Yes, the high definition units are flying off the shelves as fast as the snowpacolypse hits DC.  Whether you find a discount isn't as important as the pixels on your wide thin LCD screen with a touch of home theatre for your popcorn amusement.  Looking at the past years, this ritual gets frenzied this time of year for the exact purpose.   Full Story

The Pro Bowl Lucrative Fumble

What fumble?  I can think of two:  scheduling and non-playing.
The change in calendar for a one year experiment from post-superbowl to pre-superbowl scheduling for the Pro Bowl could be found wanting.  Not because the ratings were low; just the opposite- they were very high.  And not because it was anymore anti-climatic than usual.  But coming one week before the Superbowl when the 2 major team members were required to go and risk injury just prior to the Super, was ill-thought, impractical, and the bowl will return to Hawaii for 2011 and 2012.  This was a major fumble by the NFL on general principle, but hey, it's the ratings and money that matters.  Remember this is a business; the same reason Indiana Hoosiers were told why the Colts perfect season became imperfect - business; keeping the eye on the ball, so to speak, for the big ring.
Not unrelated to scheduling is the end result of top players from the final AFC and NFC champs simply sitting and getting paid thousands to sit, and with the ability to leave during half-time.  Call it a reverse play; sort of a pay to not play benefit.  Shake hands, be seen, be friendly and give a few soundbites; just don't play the game and you can walk away with some serious dollars, win or lose.  As FoxSports says "they are required by the NFL to attend the Pro Bowl or forfeit the game checks that come with the honor. Players from the winning team receive $45,000; the losers $22,500."   And guess what, the AFC won.  Nice bench work guys.  On the NFL.com website, ESPN quotes Manning "Obviously I'm excited tonight, knowing I have a real game next week."

Rahm Emanuel Potty Mouth Award

As if the hubbub last year over Geithner's excessive F-bombs toward regulators weren't enough, we now see another administration potty mouth, Rahm Emanuel, calling people 'F...ing retarded'.  Specifically targeted to liberal Democrats running ads against conservative Democrats reluctant to embrace health care reform, Emanuel is summoned to the White House for a meeting with CEO Special Olympics ,Tim Shriver "as well Andrew Imparato, president of American Association of People with Disabilities; Julie Petty, former president of Self Advocates Becoming Empowered; parent and special needs advocate Hannah Jacobs; and Ricardo Thornton, self-advocate and Special Olympics athlete," according to CBSnews.com.  Full Story . . . It appears these advocacy groups will bring their own brand of soap to clean the "R" word from his vocabulary, express the hurt it causes, and expect apologies.  Sarah Palin, whose son has Down Syndrome, has called for Obama to fire Emanuel, and flack is coming from other sources.
If one were keeping tabs on repeated disrespect from administration officials including the Executive branch, we would have to call Glenn Beck for an extra blackboard.

Not Everything is Tea Party

Fox News contributor and NY Post columnist Michael Goodwin offers his opinion that the rethinking of holding terrorists trials in NY is the product of a Tea Party.  Well maybe; maybe not.  Could it be the issues plus another insult to Ny that turned the tide?  If so, it may be less of a tea party moment and more of a kool-aid response.  Consider:

1) $200 million dollars was way too costly, even for New Yorkers.
 2) Disruption of daily life, perhaps for weeks if not years, considering appeals.
 3) Chronic discourse whether a civil trial vs. military tribunal is the better forum.
 4) The questionable 'showcasing our justice system' reinforcing NY as a perpetual target.
 5) The insult of choosing a NY site without contact or approval of the police commissioner or Mayor Bloomberg.

Palin, Tea Party; Endorse Rand Paul

Sarah Palin, who became a heroine of conservative values among Tea Partyests, has just endorsed Rand Paul, Republican Kentucky candidate for U.S. Senate.  Never mind strict ideological definitions of Libertarian or statists Republican policy.  Like his father, Ron Paul, there is a brand of conservatism that hearkens back to a former time when adherence to our founding documents had traction to make limited government and people power the cornerstone of our Republic.
Never mind the uphill battle against the current Ky. Sec. of State Republican, also seeking the same nomination.  Envision a NY 23rd replay, but this time ready yourself for a Massachusetts outcome, as this time the Tea Party candidate may have the edge.  Already gaining a recognition edge in December, he now receives a PAC check from Sarah Palin along with her endorsement; something that certainly won't hurt in the land of Bourbon, Daniel Boone, and whatever else a Derby horse brings to DC.  (ok. I admit it; forgive last comment as an Obama moment).  Nevertheless, throw in an anti-incumbent mood, a desire to reform our government, and a full speed ahead to do it at the ballot box, and you have a recipe for a brewing tempest from a Kentucky tea pot.
Caution.  Beware of those wanting to use grassroots conservatives for their own purposes and not all tea partyests follow in lockstep.  Not one of us is ideological pure, for even Palin endorsed maverick John McCain's candidacy that is more progressive than conservative.

'BOLD AND FRESH' - HILARIOUS

The 'Bold and Fresh Tour' appeared at the Kerasota Theatre #10 on Indy's southside on Saturday at 8:00 pm.  What was to be a live simulcast from Norfolk, Va. to a variety of theatres across the nation became a white-out due to the weather related state of emergency issued in Virginia.  Theatre goers were neither denied nor disappointed as several announcements were made that the recorded broadcast from the previous night in Tampa would be replayed or refunds issued.   The capacity filled theatre remained full as followers of Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly watched, laughed, and clapped during the two hour event.  A mixture of current events ranged from the serious to slapstick broken up with a 20 minute intermission.
Thanks to my activists friends, the Bigelows, for the courtesy ticket.  In case you missed it, another schedule for Tuesday is available on the web.  See schedule
